More than Photos: It’s Foto30!

By on September 2010

One of the most important events of the year takes place during the month of September: Foto30. It is an annual photographic cultural festival that started thanks to the initiative of the Centro Cultural de España en Guatemala (Cultural Center of Spain in Guatemala); year after year it has been very successful and thus returns again. It is a canvas on which artists of the lens reflect their views, experiences, knowledge and feelings, both professionally and socially.

From the year 2005, a thematic format was introduced; this year’s theme is Family. The organizers don’t wish to suggest or impose a single model of coexistence and instead propose the deepening of the subject based on the usual concept of family, but also including the environment, where it develops, how its members interact, and socialization; all this is to free the framework of inspiration from bias for this year’s festival.

The CFCE will host the opening of Foto30, and to celebrate will present two exhibitions that are part of the festival. You’ll also be treated to live music, audiovisual photography, a fun space for visitors, and a cocktail party.
All through the month, there will be exhibitions in various locations from a number of photographers who will make this festival a significant sample of the power of the visual image. However, it’s not just a festival to observe; honoring the theme that was assigned, there will be events for the whole family from talks and seminars for youngsters and adults to workshops for children.
